Victorian education, revisited

It’s *cold* this morning, standing on the platform waiting for my predictably late train. A poster for a museum – in York – cheers me up:

“You’ve seen the street, now meet the people… Britain’s most famous Victorian street experience has had a massive makeover!”

Apparently the display includes a “New school-room and toyshop”. Excited as I am at the prospect, I’d guess that they may have a different style of “toyshop” in mind than immediately sprung to mind. Then again, if one gets to “meet the people”, I ought to visit: I’d enjoy being introduced to a few Victorian schoolgirls…

And driving to work yesterday I passed a truck emblazoned with the company name: CP Supplies.

I looked them up, most disappointing.
