NB: Shouldn’t we be saying ‘football’. It’s only ‘soccer’ in America. Almost as interesting as the use of ‘knickers’ over here and ‘panties’ over the pond…

Abel: Perhaps it was I that was drinking too much last night. Having read this again this morning I think I can follow your mind a little better. One could pick up a number of threads but the connection between soccer and masochism is worthy of comment. If you are British this could be understandable, but in Australia our boys are up and coming stars and masochism doesn’t feature, as you will realize when the next World Cup comes around. By the way, just what are the British good at???? (PS In anticipation of your response…. one day cricket series……one day wonder! PSS Perhaps you chaps might consider ‘Wielding Implements’ as a sport?)

And another thing – that rumour about girls deriving pleasure from being spanked – do you have any hard evidence? Statistics? Anything at all other than your personal anecdotal experience?
