I thought of you, Haron, harvesting birch branches, as I strolled through the Farmers’ Market on Saturday, and saw the decorative bundles of red Dogwood and yellow curly Willow for sale. No birch, alas.
Well, sorry to disappoint, Hermione, but we ended up re-using an old birch rod, rather than picking one fresh. I might have been tempted if the weather was nice, but the woods are boggy, cold and terrible… The birch-making would have been a worse punishment than the birching itself!
The account of the birching is coming up later today, after I’m done (or more or less done) with work

But not the sort of hugs that involve a friendly squeeze of a girl’s bottom!
Looking forward to “later”
Meanwhile I hope you have lots of aftersun (the perfect post-whacking solution imho!) xxx
