The Workhouse Punishment Book

Sometimes a mere photograph of a book cover can generate hours of daydreaming. Mind, not any old book, but the Punishment Book used at Llandeilo Workhouse in Wales from 1878-1907:

One example: three young inmates who…
-------… instead of going to school absconded and walked to Llanelly where they were seen wandering about by the Police and locked up”. The Master retrieved them the following day, for which he “applied 6 strokes with a birch”.
Now you can buy a book of the best entries from "The Spanking Writers".
Mmm…yes, I can see the imagination kicking in over something like that. I’ll pass on birch strokes for the moment though. I went to a play party Saturday night and still have all the bruises to show for it. Good times, good times…*grins* For this, I will say God Bless Canada and the people in it.
Hi, Katrina
Sounds like you had a most enjoyable weekend. Surely Canadians have more than enough birches to add them to the party fun…?
