I spied a wonderful new shop last month, about to open just off posh Sloane Square:
Custom belts, indeed? I’ll have one that’s triple thickness, extra wide.
Actually, make that two. The second can have a large buckle, and studs.
Methinks they may end up with a customer base quite unlike the one they predicted in their business plan.

I hope the same as Elaine, large buckle and studs sounds very very scary!!!
I would like to hear all about the meeting up of Smudge and Abel, just after he sees his photo up behind the cash desk at Elliot Rhodes
I think that would be memorable!

Scene opens as Abel walks into Elliot Rhodes.
Assistant, looking first at the photo behind the counter, and then at Abel. “Ah, Mr Abel, I believe? We’ve been expecting you.”
Assistant opens drawer, and takes out an especially heavy belt. “Would you care to come this way, sir?”
Assistant opens door to back room, and ushers Abel inside. “We took the liberty of locking Miss Smudge in here pending your arrival, sir.” (Hands belt to Abel). “Shall I lock the door for you, sir, to make sure she can’t try to escape while you punish her?”

Oh ha ha. You’re soooo funny. Besides, it wouldn’t matter if they locked the door – I’d be out by then. I’d get through it while they were holding it open for you and your zimmer frame. Not that you’re old or weak enough to need a zimmer frame… oh, wait, you must be, if you’re not capable of controlling a girl half your size without the help of a locked door…

I think I’ll have to visit that shop at some point… I’ve never had a proper belt yet. Well, they don’t really make them for girls now do they? But if there’s a photo of Abel behind the counter I might be able to convince them the belt’s actually for him! I mean, by the time I get there he’ll probably be a regular customer already…

Good thinking Kate, we could all go in to buy our nice new belts, take them to the counter, look a little downcast as we glance at Abels photo which by now has pride of place on the wall, and quietly mention that “Mr Abel sent us in to get a belt Sir, he says to put in on his account” The belts would be nicely wrapped and we’d be on our merry way while Abel would just have an enormous account to settle both with Elliot Rhodes and with a whole lot of naughty girls sporting new belts
Sounds like a lot of fun to me!
I wonder how long it will be before people googling to find out about Elliot Rhodes belts find this site… and how many are then inspired to do a lot more than just keep their trousers up with their new belts!

I looked at the website and it turns out the shop is already open, and you can actually buy the belts online.
But then I saw the prices – brought tears to my eyes!
