CCK2: 29 hours to go, and counting…

An urgent plea for help, on behalf of an excellent kinky cause…

Remember “Coffee, Cake and Kink”, anyone? For several years, those of us with naughty inclinations had our very own haunt near Covent Garden. A lovely place. A safe place. A place that gave you confidence that being kinky was perfectly fine. An important place in my life, at the time.

They shut their doors a few years back, but are now hoping to re-open. Potential landlords seem to have been deterred by the original k-word in the name – bizarrely, I think, in this post 50 Shades era. So “.. kisses” it is. I can live most contentedly with that, as clever compromises go!

They’re trying to raise finance right now, and I’d love it if they were successful. And when I say ‘right now’, I mean precisely that: at the time of writing, then need another £4,205 before their kickstarter project closes tomorrow if they are to raise enough to open. (Hey, before there are moans: the last time I pleaded for money from you was in 2011 for the charity anthology I co-edited. And I do know that many folks won’t be in the fortunate position to help).

In return for donations, they’re offering incentives including tickets for their launch party. Emma Jane and I have contributed, as have many of our friends, and would love it if any of you could too. I might even buy you a coffee there when they re-open if you do!

The link’s here if you are able to help, with a donation no matter how small. If you can, thank you so much behalf of kinky (sorry, ‘kissing’) people in London, who come to London, or who just want to support a wonderful initiative.

Yay! Thanks to the friend who commented on Twitter that she’d read this and made a donation. Hope others can also help!

    They did it!

The CCK folks’ excited email late last night described how they got there – “with a record 100 backers joining us today and nearly £6K raised in a single day.”

Huge thanks to various SW readers who joined the fray yesterday to contribute. Hearing the news as we went to bed really did put the icing on what had been a very very lovely evening for us in a vanilla sense.
