Anyone else fascinated by Word grids? Well, there’s a website where one can devise new puzzles. Here’s one I made earlier:
Words can appear vertically, horizontally, diagonally and even backwards. You should be able to find the following:
- the
- naughty
- schoolgirl
- was
- caned
- on
- the
- bare
- bottom
- by
- the
- strict
- headmaster
- who
- inflicted
- six
- of
- the
- very
- best
Oooh, this makes word grids so much more fun!!
Man, someone’s got the time…
Ok – so IF someone had been geeky enough to have started setting a cryptic crossword on a similar theme, there might actually be interest in the finished article?
Hypothetical question, of course.
Jo – IF that were to be the case, I’m sure a lot of people would be interested. Hypothetically, of course.
Kate – solved it yet?
Amber – actually, it’s a bit of a cheat, in that the website we linked to does all the hard work in terms of generating the grid!
i’ve been looking at it for 20 mins and i’ve only found half!!! I’m so blonde.
The first word I singled out of your list (oh so Freudian!) was “caned,” and took me exactly 0.01 second to locate it – line four, starting with the fourth letter from left.
When I did my word search for the games feature on my blog, I didn’t know about that special site. I had to do it by hand. What a pain in the rear that was! Personally, I love spanko games.
