Birched girl, revisited

Ever get those nights where your mind works away feverishly solving some problem or other, stopping you from sleeping? Last night was one such for me: I’ve been working on a presentation for a high-profile conference in the new year, and nothing has quite clicked. Give my subconscious time to work on it whilst asleep, though, and suddenly a wonderful concept and structure for the session fell into place.

Thus, still before five in the morning, I had to get up to scribble down my ideas, lest they be forgotten by morning. And after that, as you can guess, my mind was buzzing.

I climbed back into bed, tired but wide awake. Haron was still sleeping: naked, warm, soft, pretty. I curled myself around her, – and squeezed her backside, still sore from Sunday night’s scene. She protested, in a sleepy “ow – that hurts – do it again” kind of way.

An evil idea came into my mind as I cuddled my birched girl. The Reformatory officers would have held their early-morning meeting with the Governor. As ever, they would discuss any incidents of misconduct the previous day. Young Alice’s would be deemed to have been insolent to one of the staff: this would clearly need to be addressed. An officer would be despatched to her room: at 5 a.m. she would be woken roughly, the sheets pulled from her bed, the girl dragged to her feet.

She would be led through the corridors to the punishment room: she would be made to touch her toes, and thrashed with the heavy leather prison strap. And then, sobbing, she would be led back through to corridor to her bed, and left until the bell sounded some hours later to wake the other girls.

You might be pleased to know that I held Haron until she fell back asleep, then headed to my office to work on the presentation. Only I was distracted and started writing this instead…

Yeah but you don’t get into trouble for being distracted and writing the blog, whereas I DO get into trouble for getting distracted and reading the blog…like now!

I doubt anyone can begrudge me creative writing time at 6 a.m. – I know I work hard, but…

    Wow – interesting post.

Now was I the only one just a tiny bit disappointed you didn’t follow through with your evil idea?

    Thanks for sharing.

Simon – I doubt you are completely alone in your disappointment but I’m certainly not with you, I much prefer the thought of Haron being cuddled back to sleep, there is a time and a place for everything and I don’t think 5am on a cold British morning fits the bill!

Glad your concept and structure fell into place Abel, I love it when that kind of thing happens :)

I’m writing presentations too today. I have concept, I have structure… I’m just lacking content. Ah well.

I think it’s rather lovely that Haron now knows what will be in store for her one early morning… but just not when. :)

Abel: No you poor dear, over-worked, under appreciated soul, nobody begrudges you creative thinking time – period. We do ever so appreciate your creative efforts my dear. They remain wonderful!! :-) (Not sucking up folks. Just a little TLC.)

Simon – you’re right: I haven’t followed through with the idea. Yet. I think the phrase is ‘watch this space’… Albeit Haron’s backside is too tender for much in the way of strapping at the moment!

Sarah – stop siding with Haron: girls have been spanked for less!

Littlenic – your presentation sounds like the other one I had to write today, only in reverse… I have content, culled from various past sessions: all I need now is a structure to hang it on…

Thank you, Rob! I am hoping that tomorrow’s creativity might see me through developing my next work presentation, rather than being diverted onto more entertaining assignments!

Abel: I thought I was siding with both of you actually, with Haron because I think she should be cuddled lots and with you because you realised this and cuddled her lots…. so there!

I’m with Rob, if Haron got out of bed at 5am, losing sleep in the process, and then wasted time on a blog instead of doing the proper work and then going back to bed for more sleep, I bet Abel wouldn’t be so sanguine about it. And what’s sauce for the gander is sauce for the goose!!

…what’s this, what’s this…what am I supposed to have done now spankable?…I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me….as she

**runs after spankable who runs after Sarah, pretty damn sure that the cover definitely won’t be big enough**

not to mention being in even more trouble for distracting Abel when he is doing the dreaded presentation.

…heh, where are you guys…it’s dark under here….

Aww, poor Haron. Still, I suppose she’s still got something to look forward to or distract her as the case may be.

You can run as fast as you like Abel… we’re hiding under a great big cover and you won’t find us! :)

Sarah: Are you absolutely, really and truly sure?…because if he does find us keep in mind that I may not be able to run fast, but I won’t waste time pushing you out of the big cover and into the waiting arms of you know who!! :-)

This all reminds me of the old tale of the hunters in the jungle.

There are these two hunters, sound asleep in their tent, deep in the heart of the jungle. And they hear the roar of a particularly fierce-sounding lion. The roar grows louder, closer. “We must flee,” they both cry.

The first hunter clambers up, and starts to panic. He rolls up his sleeping bag, packs his belongings into his rucsack, and starts to unpeg the tent.

    The roars get even closer.

The first hunter glances at his friend in amazement, noticing that he has simply perched on a rock, calm as can be, and is lacing up his running shoes.

He urges him on. “Why are you so calm? And there’s no point putting on your trainers – you’ll never outrun a lion.”

“But you see, my friend, I don’t need to outrun a lion. I only need to outrun you…”

(and in reply to your previous comment – I’ve never been birched… *wistful sigh*)
