Ladies: I need your opinion.
Imagine are to be spanked on the bare. Which works best for you: having your knickers taken down by the top who’s about to deal with you – or being told to remove them yourself? And why?
Does it vary according to the implement to be used, or the position you’re adopting for the whacking? Does it change according to the nature of the spanking – playful, roleplaying (in whatever character), disciplinary, punishment, erotic? Does timing have an issue (removal before being made to adopt the requisite position, or once you are bent over)?
I’m curious. It’s such an important part of the spanking ceremony – yet I don’t think I’ve ever seen it discussed in any depth…
Funny you should ask that since it is something I have given some thought to recently.
I have decided that having them taken down by the top would be the best way for me. The reason? Well, I guess because it lends to the feeling of submission. This would be especially important for a punishment spanking and in many scenes for role-play. I can be stubborn and strong willed at times (a trait that I am frequently told is because of my red hair) and having the top take them down means giving control to the top completely.
I think rather they are taken down before getting into position or after bending over depends on the situation. Having to stand in front of the top whilst they scold me and take them down would definitely have me feeling like a naughty little girl. Although, I think if I were going across the top’s lap, having them taken down once in position would work well also. I guess when they are taken down would depend on the situation and what would fit best with it.

I think for me it depends. Generally, I prefer it if the top does it, but in certain contexts, especially school role play, “Take those knickers down, young lady” also adds a certain something to the proceedings.
I think it’s the same for me as for Eliane. I usually prefer the top taking the panties down, but I also like being guided / controlled by words as well. It depends on the situation and my current mood. A combination of both can also be incredibly hot, meaning the top taking the knickers down together with an announcement that he is going to take them down and why. Ludwig did that during our first play, announcing that he was going to take my panties down this time because we had talked about my fear of losing control and he wanted to push my limits a bit. For me that was the hottest part of the whole scene!
I think it does depend on the spanking.. I much prefer it when P spanks me with my pants on and then tells me he’s going to take them down and finish my spanking.

In most situations it is exponentially hotter for me when the top takes them down — the added sensation of their hands on my skin, like candycane said, the feeling of being ‘handled,’ making me feel smaller, more like a naughty girl… Especially if eye-contact is being made and either playful or role-played admonishments are being spoken… : )
For a specifically role-played situation, however, when the girl taking down her own would make much more sense, such as a schoolgirl and her housemaster, then I think it would be just as hot to have to do it myself, adding to the authenticity of the scene, so-to-speak… : )
Timing doesn’t factor in as much for me in either situation… although the incremental loss of clothing (spanked over jeans/skirt, pausing to remove the first layer, if it required being taken out of position then put back in position and spanked over knickers, etc…) in any scene builds a lot of anticipation for me and makes the moment when I have to be bare that much more meaningful… Not to mention it makes the whole experience last a lot longer! 😀

I agree that it depends upon the premise of the spanking. Sometimes it’s appropriate that my protective undergarments are taken from me quickly and forcefully. This simple act signals that all that is to follow will be likewise outside of my control.
Other times, it intensifies the experience to have to become complicit in my own chastisement. In baring my bottom, I explicitly acknowledge and accept both his right to spank and my need for physical discipline.
Either scenario can be a huge turn-on for me.
