How about this for a door, passed on a stroll through Bloomsbury recently:
See above the door? ‘The Academy’. Plain and simple. No need for extra detail – the girls sent there for education (and, perhaps, reform) would know all about it. “If that caning doesn’t teach you a lesson, I’ll send you to The Academy”, perhaps?
(Actually, it’s a hotel. And, having stayed there a few years ago, a rather disappointing one. But there’s no hint of that from the outside…!)
