Restaurant punishments

Borough Market in London (aka foodie heaven) is host to a rather wonderful restaurant that I’ve frequented a couple of times for work as well as pleasure. Strolling nearby recently, I happened to notice the restaurant’s name on the door of a somewhat anonymous office block a couple of streets away.

I’ve often thought of waitresses being spanked at the end of their shifts for any mistakes they might have made: things dropped, complaints from customers, bills miscounted. I’d envisaged those taking place in the restaurant itself after the clients had left – or, even, more spontaneously by the chef in the kitchen in the middle of service.

But in this case, clearly a different approach was adopted: a girl would be required to report to the office to be punished (say) an hour before the start of the following day’s shift. Or maybe the office was only used for more serious issues – the waitress being made to take the lonely walk from restaurant to office in the middle of the evening (or marched there by the maitre d’?); made to strip off her uniform; tied down; caned to tears; sent back to work…
