A handwritten sign in the supermarket I popped into one recent lazy Sunday morning read:
Girls bike for sale
I guess the lack of the necessary apostrophe threw me, as I merely took in “Girls for sale”.
Sadly, I don’t own the remote country home needed for new purchases of this nature – and in the city, their screams might be heard by the neighbours. I think three girls would be the optimal number to buy – two to observe each other’s whippings and abuse, whilst the third was kept locked away wondering what was happening to the others, when they would be returned, and why she had been left alone….
Of course, the sign might have been missing a comma instead of an apostrophe – in other words:
Girls, bike for sale
Buy the job lot, then sell the bike on eBay for a profit to offset the cost?
