The stern visitor

This rather foreboding-looking chap had his photo plastered on posters and leaflets all over our Kyoto hotel:

SW Stern man flyer

He’ll be on the fourth floor on the evening of 17th December, it seems. A cost of 20,000 yen is mentioned (around £150). But our lack of Japanese means we can’t read the rest of the announcement.

But hold on… it’s obvious. He’s the Master Disciplinarian, on his once-a-quarter visit to the city. If your daughter’s conduct has fallen short of expectations, book an appointment now! The cane is his implement of choice, but he’ll use the strap instead if you insist.

There’s a list of discounted rates at the foot of the page – as much as 13% off. That’s presumably if you’ve sent her to him on one of his previous visits, and she’s been in trouble since. Don’t worry – the second appointment comes with a guarantee: she won’t misbehave again…

Now there’s a pretty thought … Although I don’t see why it’s just the daughters that should benefit from his expert services 😉

Abel, I can’t believe you don’t recognize the famous actor known as the Japanese Alan Rickman!

Just kidding. No idea who he is.

Oops, didn’t check to see whether this was Abel or Haron. Oh, right, only girls getting whacked. Must be Abel.

You, Paul, are a bad, bad man :-) (Haron and I are falling around laughing at that and attracting strange looks from all around!)
