Naughty, but ingenious

Any of you out there use your phones too much? The former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell’s autobiography describes a spanking for just such an offence, although in her case combined with some rather inappropriate technical cleverness:

Mum put a silver lock on our phone to stop us making calls, but Max showed me how to hit the handset cradle button the same number of times as each digit to dial a number. She couldn’t understand why our telephone bills were so high until she came home and caught me in the middle of ‘tapping’.

We were dragged into the sitting room and punished with her flip-flop, which was less painful than the wooden spoon.

I’m imagining the conversation, interrupted: “You want me to join a band, Victoria? That sounds… No, mum… Owwww, owwwwww, owwwwwwww!”

I never use my phone too much. Nope not addicted to it at all. And never been spanked for it either, well at least not at home…

    Splutters at Emma Jane’s comment…

“Never use my phone too much.” Ever been spanked for being economical with the truth, young lady 😉

Now, now, Abel, we must understand that Young People These Days have different cultural norms than do the middle-aged. Extensive phone use is clearly an important part of that culture and it would be cruel to restrict it unduly.

In the modern era, many people get free nights and weekends on our mobile plans. Who cares if we use our phones a lot? We’re not racking up a huge bill 😉

@MysteryMinx, allow me to demonstrate to Abel and HH that I do on occasion listen to the lecture that comes with the spanking.

It’s not the cost of my bill that they care about, more that it’s very rude to constantly check and send emails and texts to other people when in their company, especially if out walking in the park, visiting stately homes, out to dinner, shopping, during a school scene…etc, etc.

    😉

EJ: only if the people you’re with are not being incredibly dull. Because being boring on a lovely day is rude too. :)

Ok, how do I know if I use my phone too much? Is there a hard and fast rule about this? I would LOVE a spanking for using my phone too much!

    Nooo! Wrong! Misquote!

    Mom clearly said,

“I told you what you’d get, what you’d really, really get.”

Geri’s response was priceless: “So slam your flip-flop down and grind it all around.”

    See!!!

    1) Reading a Spice Girls autobiography?! Really? Who’s guilty of that one?
    2) @EJ You use your phone WAY too much young lady. It’s not so much the texting at innappropriate times, more the reading of email and blogs at x O’Clock in the morning when you should be asleep 😀
