Counting her mistakes

Nantes, early last Sunday morning. “Un cafe grand, s’il vous plait,” I requested in my best schoolboy French, in the only coffee shop that seemed to be open at that time of day.

“Expresso?”, she replied, as she typed in my order.

I corrected her, but too late for the incorrect drink to have appeared in her system. She printed off a receipt, and circled the error – adding it to a growing pile of similar pieces of paper, each recording one of her mistakes.

No doubt she’d have to hand the sheaf to the manager at the end of her shift, to be scolded. But you can guess where my mind went: he’d tally up the errors, take her over his knee, and administer a hard spank for each wrong order.

Then again, this was McD’s – one of my few vices – and I’m not sure the idea of ‘spanked under the arches’ is any classier now than the last time I envisaged one of Ronald’s crew getting whacked…

Somone needs to cure you of your McDs vice, not just the food but the imaginary spanking of all their female staff 😉

I’m very impressed with the mileage you get from so few vices! 😉

@EJ: Agreed! But who shall get the honour? 😉

@Abel: I have to do this (printing error receipts and filing them at the end of the day)… and it always does provide yummy punishment imaginings to brighten up those (many) boring days when nobody comes into the shop asking for Castor oil or arnica… Thank god it is only a fantasy, though! 😐

As a former employee of McDonald’s (in my poor undergrad days) I can assure you that I would have been delighted to be the object of such a fantasy.
