Spanking nicknames

I was browsing Fetlife recently, and wondered how people in the spankosphere choose their screen names. For every “naughty_sub” there’s a “John Smith” or a “macrame_girl”. I must admit to a certain bias against people who use their nicknames as personal ads, like “bottom4spanking” etc, but there must something that compels people to choose those names.

I wonder, how did you arrive at your spankosphere nickname?

I’ll start: Haron is a version of Charon, the ferryman on the Styx, which was my nickname at school. How about you?

I guess I copy my Fetlife entry to the very same question then…

When I first came out to the scene, I only played as bottom and only used the first name. It’s the Latin version of my middle name. I thought the middle name itself is a bit short and I liked the idea, that it’s not exactly my middle name. However, most kinky friends shorten it and therefore actually use my middle name…

When I started to top, I knew I needed to have a last name too. It just fits better to my head space. I wanted it to be a common English name and it should start with the first letter of my real last name. So a kinky friend came up with this name. I liked it immediately, not only because I also like Stephen Lewis’s movies.

“Abel”? I honestly can’t remember if it was biblical, Jeffrey Archer or a little of each!

My name is the French version of my first name, Steve.

I chose it in part because I had a high school French teacher who wore suits and other formal clothes, and who was a bit demanding. I got a little submissive thrill out of hearing this imposing woman using that name, and so it was a natural choice.

I used to write stories with two friends. It was a little like roleplaying…Everyone played a different character and through different (long or short) posts these characters responded to each other. It was really fun because you never knew how the other characters were going to respond, but you were still writing a really good story. In one of those stories I played Olivia Crowe, a strong, independent woman who also had a hidden submissive side. She was important and beautiful and she knew it. She was arrogant and bitchy…but, to her husband (and boss) she was sweet, submissive, loving… Olivia was my first character ever to get spanked. Turned out my friends weren’t as vanilla as I originally thought.

Anyway, I fell in love with this character…she’s a lot like me. Why I named her Olivia I don’t really remember…It must’ve had a reason, but now I just think it’s a beautiful name.

I never seem to have people names as online personas, even my vanilla email address is not a real name. I think that I find it hard to think about myself as anyone other than my real name but obviously don’t want to out myself by using it online.

Purple because its my favourite colour. Sky because I’m a dreamer and 16 because I needed a number and it’s my favourite one.

De-lurking because this is such an interesting question! Actually, not knowing what to do with the name things is what kept me as a lurker so long. Claire is the name I wish I had had when I was younger. No idea other than that why I picked it. (and dancin’ because I’ve been a dancer my whole life)

Mine means “wise woman” (or sometimes “witch”) and i chose it to express something positive about my own maturity as a sexual female.
i also sometimes use a nickname that means “sweet punishment” but for fetlife you can’t be too explicit or you get bombarded with uninvited offers!

I have such a common first name that it’s easy to use and still blend in. I either use my initials and whatever age I am at the time, or part of my first name. The thing is, my name USED to be common until about ten years ago. Soon it’s going to start showing my age. :)

My scene name came about by accident.
The surname came first – I’d booked in for an interview at the ‘Muir Academy’ and I needed a pseudonym. Jenkins sounded good and, of course, it also reminded me of Grange Hill growing up.

I also needed a first name. Simon sounded like it fitted, so that became my name. It was only a couple of years later that I found out that ‘Simon Jenkins’ was actually a journalist – but by then, the name had stuck.

Originally Simon was supposed to just be my school name, but as I began to explore other aspects of the scene, I kept bumping into people who already knew me and it just became easier to be known as Simon everywhere.

These are all so interesting :-)

I’m always amused when the two Messrs Jenkins – Abel and Simon – both turn up at events. Are we related?! (I’ve actually gone the other way in terms of use of my real name. Virtually everyone I know in person knows and uses it – and that’s how I introduce myself. I really only use Abel when playing scenes).

My spanking name came around by accident. I’d had a nickname I used in chat rooms which I “outgrew” and needed a new one. At the time I was in rehearsals for a production of Camelot…. playing…. yeah, you guessed it, Nimue. Then I met a partner who’s nickname also came from arthurian legend, and it stuck.
My surname (Allen) came from when I signed up to second life – you had to have a surname from a list that they generated, Allen was the first one that was available to use with Nimue.
In places around the web that I dont want link to my kinky side, I tend to use some of the other names of the Lady of the Lake, it’s very rare I use my “real” name anywhere!

Lily Ann is just a name I really like. It sounds prettier to me then my real name (I am under the impression my mother has no imagination). I have used the name Lily or Lily Ann for many of my roleplaying characters. I used to play a game called Rifts which is similar to Dungeons and Dragons (go ahead and laugh!) and have also done many vanilla roleplays. What can I say, I like using my imagination. LOL. The name Lily just seems so innocent and trusting. Personally, I think it fits me better then my real (really boring) name.
