Helping her to learn?

I check in early last Sunday evening at a chain hotel in the middle of nowhere.

The ever-so-cute receptionist’s full of smiles as she checks me in. I tease her gently – as one does – about the large, half-eaten box of biscuits on her desk.

“Ah. Well, I need them. After last night…”

“You were having fun…?”

She blushes: “I… erm… rather made an exhibition of myself. I’m never very good with a few drinks…”

“Hence the biscuits.”

“Yes. I really should learn. But I’m not very good at learning lessons.”

Seriously. Now, did I answer:

a) “Plenty of water too, I hope.”

or

b) “Learning lessons, young lady? Perhaps you need a little help. What time does your shift finish?”

Sadly, of course, I necessarily went for (a). But in a parallel universe, she’d have been a very sore – but doubtless grateful – young lady later, after a little help in the duty manager’s office.
