Made me smile

Made me smile… The framed front page of an 1892 “Boy’s Own Paper” on the wall in the gents at a posh hotel, depicting a stern headmaster with the phrase:

Ominously uncompromising

What a lovely phrase: a style I really must adopt in some future scene when faced with a trembling young lady.

And then there was one of my work associates, who sent a text to one of my colleagues with the phrase:

Sorry: not coming over to bend you over today :-(

… followed quickly with an embarrassed:

Ignore last text. Wasn’t meant for you.

Needless to say, said colleague didn’t ‘ignore’ it but read it out to the rest of us. I do feel sorry for the poor lass who missed being bent over. And we wouldn’t have spent the past few weeks sending said associate emails full of phrases like “we need to bend over backwards for the client on this one.” Oh no.
