Stronger discipline?‏

The Times reported on 5 November that, according to a survey:

“Most children believe that they would do better in school if there was stronger discipline… More than three out of four wanted those who misbehave to receive ‘tougher discipline’. Those surveyed were divided, however, as to whether the cane, tawse or slipper would prove most effective, although there was near-unanimous agreement that public birchings in morning assembly should be used only for girls committing the most serious offences.”

Sadly the paper’s sub-editors had deleted some of the above text before publication…
