Spanking Apps for iPhone

I haven’t tried this myself, but apparently, if you have an iPhone, you can buy an app that pretends to spank whatever/whoever you take a picture of.

From a Wired review:

You snap a photo of a person, then it displays a bubble above him or her that says “Spank.” Then when you shake the iPhone you hear the sound of a spank, followed by a man yelping.

The app costs $1… There’s a similar one in the App Store called Spank the Monkey, which does the same thing, only it costs $5 and you’re spanking cartoon monkeys rather than humans.

I must admit, even if I had an iPhone, I wouldn’t stumble over my feet in a rush to download these. They sound quite silly. And yet, even the silliest little programme can be improved by willing persons, so maybe one day we’ll see a great spanking app.

The iPhone: not much memory, dreadful battery life – but at least you can spank photos. Mmmm. I might wait for the second generation!

Reminds me of the Onion’s wonderfully entertaining news item on Sony’s new product. Do not listen with colleagues or anyone sensitive around! (Not that you’d be reading this blog on a Saturday with colleagues around. Or ever with colleagues around, I guess):

    Haha, love the link!
As for spanking apps, I still believe the best hope lies with the Wii. Surely some spanko programmer is going to one day see the potential?
For now though, content yourselves with this: http://rabbids.uk.ubi.com/swf/index.html
Though I have to say, I’ve never heard of a plunger being used before!

I don’t have an iPhone yet — though my mom got one a year ago for her birthday and I believe she never puts it down completely. Her favorite app is the one that somehow knows where you are (gps, google, who knows?) and picks a nearby restaurant for you when you give the phone a shake.

Despite how fun the spanking app sounds, I think that one might be my favorite too. Anything to keep from making a decision.

As to the battery life — it’s actually pretty good. Much better than I get in my mobile.

When it gets to 80gigs, I suspect I’ll be getting one. Assuming I can wait that long. Then again, we do have a totally Apple filled house.
