I’m delighted to announce that this is the 2,500th post on The Spanking Writers blog. That’s an anniversary that feels worthy of celebration. I’ve personally published a new post at least every other day for over seven years: roughly half-a-million words in total. (Haron’s 900-odd posts – which of course contributed importantly to the tally in the blog’s first years – plus occasional contributions from a couple of very dear friends, make up the balance).
Thanks to all of you who’ve helped to make the site a continuing success, especially since I took over sole writing duties here two or so years back – when, without your support and encouragement, it would have been so easy for me to stop: I’m particularly proud today of having maintained the site without interruption through such tough personal times. Your continuing comments and kind words really are gratefully received. And if you’ve not yet delurked, why not treat this as an opportunity to say hi?
I take great pride in this blog. I know very many of the people dearest to me in real-life – and, indeed, indirectly they know one another – because of it. And, whilst few of those folks come here more than occasionally these days, it’s perhaps to be expected that people will move on in their lives and their kinky reading habits -and there’s a new group of wonderful people who comment and seem to enjoy what I write. SW may comprise a shifting community of readers and commenters, but it has always felt like a community.
I also know a fair number of people who’ve found the site helpful in understanding and embracing their own kinks – realising that they’re not alone; that their interest in consensual spanking isn’t odd or weird, but natural and healthy. In these cases, it’s wonderful to know I’ve provided some support.
As with any major milestone, it’s made me stop and reflect. Indeed, I’ve given serious thought in recent weeks to the idea that 2,500 posts might well be a good point to stop and move on. Why do I still write here? Do I get enough from it to justify the time and effort involved? Are enough people reading the site to make maintaining it worthwhile? (I still get over 20,000 hits per month, but that’s well below what it was a year back – and nowhere near the 90,000-odd highs of a few years ago).
Is blogging the best way to share my thoughts, or has the online world really now moved on (in the same way as it has from newsgroups)? Is real-life play a regular enough feature of my life these days for the blog to still feel interesting, other than as a collection of random, largely-unfulfilled fantasies? Can I honestly see myself keeping up the posting schedule that would take me to the next milestone- the tenth anniversary in spring 2016 – and, if not, wouldn’t this be a good moment to throw in the proverbial towel?
I’ll ponder that that more in the coming days. But, in the meantime, I simply feel like celebrating. And it would be lovely if you could join me in feeling happy at such an important milestone.

I hope you will not stop writing this blog! It has become part of my daily routine. And I love routine. I need it. It’s been messy last few weeks but my exams are almost over, probably graduation too, and I will have more time to enjoy your blog. Please, do not kill the blog! I don’t think I could ever forgive you killing it!

Wow that’s a lot of posts. As someone who has been reading here for at least 3 years and probably more I’d encourage you to keep posting if it makes you happy as it still makes your readers happy. Also as someone who has gone from lurker to commenter to real life friend I owe this blog an awful lot.
Congratulations, Abel. that’s an outstanding achievement. I hope you won’t stop writing here; bogs are still a very important part of my kinky life. However, you must do what is tight for you.

Congratulations! 2.500 is … a lot. One wonders whether you have applied as many cane strokes over the years.
My main interest is the great story site, but this blog has been a delightful bonus. It fed my kinky mind regularly for the last few months. My brain even shows first signs of perverting reality nowadays, so the influence may well be lasting. There is also a lot to be said for random, largely-unfulfilled fantasies. Fiction-inspired fantasies is how it all started for me long ago, and those who push my buttons (like many of yours do) are still good company when real life leaves less room for spanking experiences.
So (just in case my point got lost) I really hope that this blog will continue for a long time. Having said that, time is a precious commodity. Maybe you could slow down … a post every three or four days instead of every other day. Any longer intervals would probably require a lot of discipline (self-discipline that is
) to keep up.
If you really feel it’s been enough, please try to leave the blog online as an archive. (There’s 2300+ posts here I haven’t read yet, so, in my case at least, withdrawal symptoms can be treated easily.)

Congrats! 2500 posts is a very impressive number. I only discovered your blog some months ago but I definitely don’t ever want to miss it again. No idea where you get all these ideas for your posts from but they definitely inpire the kinky part of my brain on a daily basis. I find myself making up *interesting* scenarios based on everyday occurrences on airports, train stations and on the street.
So please don’t stop! Although of course I do understand that it’s not really easy to bring the off- and online life in line esp while putting so much time and effort into this blog like you do already for years now …
