Undressed?

I picked up the following leaflet at the National Portrait Gallery, whilst visiting their new (and rather fine) exhibition about Elizabeth I:

A girl in period dress, standing for inspection. Slowly but surely, the curator disrobes her of her garments. She blushes deeply as the layers are removed. Before long, she is naked – and then the the assembled visitors are invited to touch the exhibit, who has been instructed to stand still and be compliant, no matter what is done to her…

…and then she is taken off to a side room by the VIP guests. The heavy door is closed firmly to: even so, there’s no promise that her screams and sobs won’t be audible to those outside. And the next girls are brought in…

It might not be like that in practice. And sadly I’m not free on Friday to go and check. But I rather like the idea.

As always your imagination runs wild and I won’t complain. Would you know what exactly was offered under that alluring name?
